What is McKinney-Vento?

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act defines “homeless children and youth” as children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.

If you or someone you know is a student experiencing homelessness, please contact your school and ask for the Homeless Education Contact. You may also contact the Bedford County Homeless Education Liaison David Parker at 931-684-3284 should you have any questions regarding the rights and services of homeless students.

Anti-bullying Awareness

A safe and supportive school climate can help prevent bullying. Bedford County Schools provides a system-wide approach to supporting students and teachers with the Tennessee Behavior Support project, the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and resources from www.stopbullying.gov. All stakeholders work together to create a climate where bullying is not acceptable.
